Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB 2027

Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB returns to Taiping, Perak, with its flagship trail races starting from Jalan Kota and exploring the historic town, Taiping Lake Gardens, Maxwell Hill and the surrounding forest and Virgin Jungle Reserves. The event is part of the UTMB World Series and combines accessible trail racing with demanding ultra-distance courses through one of Malaysia's best-known rainforest landscapes.

The headline MY100 covers 97.7 km with 4,802 m of elevation gain. It starts at 03:00 on Saturday and allows 32 hours, taking runners over a mixture of technical and non-technical trails, including rainforest terrain and historic railway features. MY50 is 54.5 km with 1,977 m of climbing, starts at 05:00 and has a 17-hour limit. Its course uses Taiping Lake Gardens and forest trails around Maxwell Hill, including the old KTM railway tunnel.

The programme also includes MY25 and MY13. Organiser information describes MY25 as a steep, undulating forest race with river crossings around Burmese Pool and Maxwell Hill, while MY13 is the event's beginner-oriented 'Freshman Run', mixing terrain around Taiping with substantially less climbing. A MYKIDS event is scheduled for Friday, 3 September, before the main Saturday programme.

MY100 and MY50 are UTMB World Series races. Finishers earn Running Stones, while the leading overall men and women can earn direct qualification opportunities for the corresponding UTMB Finals category and complimentary entry to the following Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB edition. The event provides stocked aid stations, medical support and assistance, insurance, drop-bag service on applicable races and finish refreshments. Mandatory gear applies to the longer races.

Registration for the 2027 edition is listed by the organiser as opening soon, so entry fees and the final registration deadline have not yet been published and are intentionally not estimated here.
