Merapoh Rainforest Trail 2027 returns to Kampung Merapoh in Pahang for its sixth edition, building on an event that has become one of Malaysia's substantial destination trail races. The race village is based at Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Merapoh near the northern gateway to Taman Negara Pahang. Current organiser material describes refined routes designed around Merapoh's rainforest, rivers, caves, traditional villages and rural landscapes. The final 2027 route map is still marked TBA, so runners should rely on the current-edition files when they are released rather than previous course maps.
The official 2027 programme has four distances: 100K, 60K, 30K and 10K. The 100K starts at 17:30 MYT on Friday 28 May and has a 25-hour cut-off, with approximately 1,994m of published elevation gain. On Saturday 29 May, the 60K starts at 04:30 with a 15-hour cut-off and about 995m gain, the 30K starts at 07:30 with an eight-hour limit and about 483m gain, and the 10K starts at 08:00 with a 3 hour 30 minute limit and about 67m gain. The longer races have Open, Veteran and Senior Veteran divisions for both men and women, while the 10K also permits runners aged 13 to 17 with parental or guardian consent.
Merapoh is part of the Asia Trail Master Grandmaster Quest calendar, with the 100K identified as the qualifying distance for the Quest. Interest is already strong: the organiser reported more than 2,000 registrations by 28 September 2026, and on 1 October said only 200 places remained in the 30K category. Early-bird places have sold out, with normal-rate registration continuing while capacity remains.
The event is run on a semi-self-sufficient basis. Mandatory equipment varies by distance and is subject to registration and random course checks, with time penalties or disqualification possible for missing items. The race village has limited homestays and campsites, while Gua Musang is about 20 minutes away and Kuala Lipis about 45 minutes away by road. Public toilets and open-air halls are available around the village, with portable showers, portable toilets and food trucks planned by the organiser.
