Event Detail
RunFest Grand Prix Race Kuala Lumpur 2027 brings a motorsport-inspired qualifying and finals format to a flat 1 km urban circuit at KL Wellness City in Bukit Jalil. Organised by Unikorn Events Sdn Bhd as part of Kuala Lumpur RunFest, the three-day weekend runs from 26 to 28 March and follows an inaugural 2025 edition. Organisers are targeting about 2,000 participants for the expanded 2027 event.
The Soloist competition takes place on Saturday evening under floodlights. Every entrant completes five laps for a 5 km qualifying race, with ranking based on the fastest single lap. Runners must still complete all five laps within 35 minutes. The fastest 60 advance to a 3 km semi-final and the fastest 30 from that stage contest a 3 km final from a static starting grid. Separate Men's and Women's Open divisions cover ages 18 to 39, with Veteran divisions for runners aged 40 and above.
Sunday's SEKIDEN competition is a three-person short relay. Teams complete 12 one-kilometre legs in qualifying, rotating runners in a fixed order and transferring a traditional tasuki sash in the exchange zone. The qualifying cut-off is 70 minutes, with a 60-second penalty for any leg slower than 7:30. The fastest 30 teams progress to a six-leg, 6 km final. Men's, Women's and Mixed categories are available, with Mixed teams limited to two men.
Friday is dedicated to race-pack collection, while Saturday combines the final collection window, Soloist racing and the RunFest Village. Sunday features the SEKIDEN races and festival activity. The circuit layout, exact start and finish positions, detailed session times and parking instructions remain provisional. Registration is online through CheckpointSpot, with no race-day registration, refunds or deferments. Bib transfers are available only through the CheckpointSpot Marketplace until 28 February for a published RM20 processing fee.
