Santubong International Nature Trail Run 2026

Santubong International Nature Trail Run 2026 is a Sarawak trail event staged at the foot of Mount Santubong, with both the start and finish at Santubong National Park HQ. The mountain rises to about 810 metres on the Damai Peninsula, around 35 km north of Kuching, and the race is built around the area's coastal rainforest, biodiversity and cultural history.

The 21K is the signature trail challenge, sending experienced runners through the foothills and towards the Wallace Centre at Kampung Santubong, an area associated with naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace's work in Sarawak. The organiser describes the courses as a mix of rainforest single-track, technical natural terrain, river crossings and coastal village paths. Published elevation figures are about 500 m for 21K, 420 m for 10K, 160 m for 5K and 100 m for 3K. The 10K is designed as a mid-distance trail race, while the 5K and 3K provide more accessible hike/run or family-walk options.

Race-day starts are staggered: 21K at 6:00 am, 10K at 6:30 am, 5K at 7:00 am and 3K at 7:30 am. Official course closing times are 1:30 pm, 11:30 am, 11:00 am and 10:00 am respectively. The event proceeds in rain, although severe weather may cause delays or route changes.

Registration is scheduled to close on 15 October 2026 or earlier if capacity is reached. Race packs are collected at Samajaya Nature Reserve in Stutong, Kuching, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on 14 November. Proxy collection is permitted with the required ID copy and confirmation slip, and outstation runners staying near Santubong can request a special pre-race collection option. Runners are encouraged to carry a reusable cup or hydration system to reduce single-use waste.
