Event Detail
Matutum Marathon 2027 brings Team Matutum Runners' flagship multi-distance road race back to General Santos City across the night of 30 and 31 January. The in-person programme is built around a 42K full marathon, supported by 21K, 10K and 5K races. Current organiser artwork gives the edition a strong Mindanao identity, with the official finisher medal drawing on regional culture and the profile of Mt Matutum.
Race timing is deliberately overnight and early morning. The 42K assembles at 22:00 on Saturday and starts at 23:00, with a 07:00 Sunday cut-off, giving marathon runners an eight-hour window. The 21K starts at 02:30 and closes at 07:00, the 10K starts at 03:00 and closes at 05:30, and the 5K starts at 04:30 and closes at 06:00. This format keeps much of the longer-distance running away from the hottest part of the day.
All four in-person distances use RFID timing-chip race bibs. The organiser lists Fiesta Aid Stations, a post-race meal and a raffle entry across the programme. Marathon and half-marathon entrants also receive finisher shirts, while the current 21K listing additionally includes a finisher singlet. Every in-person distance lists a finisher medal.
The official 2027 medal artwork says its design references Mindanao tribal dancers and living heritage, T'nalak-inspired colours, a central sun motif, an ocean-wave border and Mt Matutum. The rotating sunray element is intended to symbolise forward movement and resilience.
Registration is currently open through the organiser's website. The current regular fees are PHP 2,400 for 42K, PHP 2,100 for 21K, PHP 1,700 for 10K and PHP 1,400 for 5K. The organiser currently confirms General Santos City, while a current 2027 race listing identifies Oval Plaza as the venue. A full current-edition course map and race-pack collection schedule have not yet been published, so runners should recheck the organiser's information closer to race weekend.
