Busan Bridge Marathon 2026

Busan Bridge Marathon 2026 is a major new road-running event built around Busan's maritime identity. The race was renamed from the previously announced Busan International Marathon in July 2026 to distinguish it from similarly named events and to emphasise its defining feature: a course linking Gwangan Bridge, Busan Port Bridge and Namhang Bridge. Busan Metropolitan City describes it as the city's first full marathon, with 12,000 places across the marathon and 10K.

The full marathon starts from the BEXCO area and crosses all three sea bridges before turning around near Chungmu-dong and returning to BEXCO. The organiser's current course information confirms the 42.195 km route has been measured and registered for World Athletics certification, with no net start-to-finish elevation difference and only about 180 metres of straight-line separation between start and finish. The marathon starts at 07:30, while the 10K starts at 08:30. The 10K uses a shorter coastal route centred on BEXCO and the Gwangan Bridge area.

The full marathon has a five-hour time limit. Entry was restricted to adults who could prove an official full-marathon finish of 4:29:59 or faster from the qualifying period. Official certificates must be submitted through the registration system by 8 October 2026 at 18:00, otherwise the organiser states that the entry will be cancelled and refunded. The 10K is open to healthy adults and has a 1 hour 30 minute limit.

Demand was extremely strong. Registration opened on 24 August and all 12,000 places, including 5,000 marathon and 7,000 10K entries, sold out the same day. The organiser recommends public transport because of expected race-day traffic controls around BEXCO and the bridge network. There is no planned inter-regional shuttle service, and pets are not permitted in either race.
