Busan Heritage Run 2026

The 2026 Busan Heritage Run brings 5K and 10K road runners to Dadaepo Beach, on Busan's western coastline, on Sunday 8 November 2026. Hosted by Asia Economy (아시아경제), the event combines community running with a celebration of Busan's remarkable history as South Korea's wartime temporary capital. The organiser is promoting recognition of sites connected with that history as part of the city's UNESCO World Heritage aspirations.

Race morning and venue

The organiser confirms an 08:00 Korea Standard Time (KST) start, with the event based at Dadaepo Beach Central Public Car Park (다대포해수욕장 중앙공영주차장) in Saha-gu. The event is capped at 10,000 participants across the 10K and 5K distances. This is a coastal community race, not a half marathon or full marathon. The official course map and any changes to marshalling or traffic arrangements should be checked in the final participant notice. Dadaepo Beach Station on Busan Metro Line 1 is an option to investigate for public transport; allow extra time for assembly and possible event-related restrictions.

Why this is a heritage run

During the Korean War, Busan served as the country's temporary capital and provided refuge to many people displaced by the conflict. The run draws attention to the city's historic temporary-capital sites and their cultural importance. Running on Busan's coastline is a way for local and visiting participants to engage with this history, although the organiser's heritage theme does not mean every protected site is necessarily on the course.

Entry and race packs

Registration is closed. The published entry window ran from 25 August to 9 October 2026, with the closing time stated as 17:00 KST on 9 October. Places were allocated on a first-paid basis and were limited by capacity, so availability could have ended earlier. The organiser's registration screen has subsequently displayed a closed notice. Published fees were KRW 40,000 for 5K and KRW 50,000 for 10K.

The official organiser describes shipping commemorative items, race bibs and timing chips to registered participants, rather than requiring a conventional pre-event expo collection. The organiser separately confirmed that commemorative socks will be supplied, with sizes dependent on remaining stock; a different size may be substituted if stock runs out. Event T-shirts and finisher medals have also been advertised in event materials. Participants should consult their dispatch notice for delivery and address requirements and should not assume race-day bib collection is available.
