Event Detail
The fourth Shunze Temple Champion Road Run brings a distinctive mix of distance running, local religious tradition and Changhua countryside to Puyan Township on Saturday 19 December 2026. Organised by Puyan Shunze Temple with Lohas Information Service handling the race, the event centres on the temple's Xuantian Shangdi worship and the annual celebration of thanksgiving and blessings.
Course and setting
The organisers describe a route exploring the cultural and agricultural landscape surrounding the Dongluo River, an important waterway in Changhua's settlement history. The published marathon course heads through Puyan's local roads and villages, passing temples, farmland and irrigation infrastructure. It travels via Zhongzheng Road, Xinsheng Road and adjoining rural routes, then makes a second circuit before finishing near the temple. Runners seeking a race outside a major city will find a community-focused setting and a route closely tied to the area's heritage.
The headline races are 42.195 km, 21 km and 10 km, alongside a 3.5 km community walking category. The full marathon is capped at seven hours, the half marathon at four hours and the 10 km at three hours. The shortest category has a two-hour limit. The organisers publish separate course diagrams for each category, so runners should check the correct map rather than assuming that all distances follow the marathon loop.
Race morning and practicalities
The event schedule calls for runners to assemble from 5:45 am. Opening remarks begin at 6:00 am, followed by a warm-up and pre-race blessing. The marathon starts at 6:30 am, the half marathon at 6:40 am, the 10 km at 6:50 am and the 3.5 km walk at 7:00 am. Prize presentations, stage entertainment and a lucky draw are listed in the morning programme.
Race materials for domestic entrants are distributed by post ahead of the event rather than collected at an expo on race day. International entrants are instructed to check in at the event service desk before their start, instead of relying on postal delivery. Organisers also provide a bag-drop service for the timed races from 5:45 am, but not for the 3.5 km walk. Entrants should read the official rules on minimum ages, timing-chip deposits, transport arrangements and the specific awards for their category.
Registration is marked closed on the official race page. The published event guide also contains news from the previous edition, so be sure to distinguish archived 2025 announcements from the 2026 race programme.
