Event Detail
Kaohsiung Marathon 2027 is a two-day city running weekend in southern Taiwan, organised by the Kaohsiung City Government Sports Development Bureau. The programme combines a full marathon, half marathon and 5K leisure run, with the headline road races using a redesigned point-to-point course through Kaohsiung.
For 2027, the marathon and half marathon start on Shidai Boulevard beside the Dream Mall area and run north to Kaohsiung National Stadium. The provisional route links major urban and waterfront areas including Asia New Bay Area, Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, Kaohsiung Main Public Library, Central Park, Love River, Zhongdu Brick Kiln, the Neiwei arts and museum district, Old Zuoying and the Kezailiao Fishing Harbor area. The organiser notes that the exact course remains subject to final Chinese Taipei Athletics Association measurement and traffic approval. The 5K is staged separately on Saturday, 9 January, starting and finishing at Kaohsiung National Stadium.
Race-day timing is clearly structured. The 5K starts at 07:30 on Saturday with a one-hour limit. On Sunday, 10 January, the marathon starts at 05:20 and has a 6 hour 10 minute final cut-off, while the half marathon starts at 06:00 with a 3 hour 10 minute limit. Entry caps are 3,500 for the marathon, 6,500 for the half and 3,000 for the 5K. Registration opened on 21 September 2026 and is scheduled to close on 23 October, or earlier if places sell out.
Full and half marathon runners can use a start-area baggage service on Sunday, with bags transported to the National Stadium finish for collection. Current organiser guidance indicates water and supplies from around the 5 km point and then at roughly 2.5 km intervals, with final station locations to be confirmed after course measurement. Race-pack collection is provisionally based at Kaohsiung National Stadium from 7 to 9 January, and there is no race-day collection.
The 2027 event also includes adaptive participation options and continues the organiser's sustainability programme, including recycled-fabric race apparel, digital race information and electronic certificates. Travelling runners should check the final official course, transport and aid-station notices closer to race week because some operational details remain provisional.
