Event Detail
Taiwan National Parks Marathon - Yangmingshan 2026 marks the return of a distinctive mountain road race in Yangmingshan National Park after a 16-year hiatus. The event is organised under Taiwan's National Park Service, with race operations handled through the Chinese Taipei Road Running Association, and is listed by AIMS as an associate member race. Entry is capped at 5,000 runners across the marathon, half marathon and 5K, reflecting the organiser's emphasis on balancing a major running event with the sensitive national-park setting.
All races start and finish at the Bagua Flag-Raising Platform beside Yangmingshan Chung-Shan Building. The marathon and half marathon head into the park via Xinyuan No. 1 Bridge and Jingshan Road, climb towards the Qingtiangang area, then continue onto Zhuzihu Road and the Yangjin Highway before turning back at distance-specific points. The 5K stays closer to the venue on a shorter out-and-back course. The longer routes are notably different from flat city marathons: runners should expect winding mountain roads, sustained climbing and descending, volcanic landscapes, forest scenery and the silvergrass-covered highlands associated with Yangmingshan.
The marathon and half marathon assemble at 05:30 and start together at 06:00, with cut-offs of six and four hours. The 5K assembles at 06:00, starts at 06:30 and has a two-hour limit. Full and half marathon entrants must have been born in 2009 or earlier; the 5K has no age restriction.
Registration ran from 2 June until 31 August 2026, subject to earlier closure if quotas filled. Race materials are delivered rather than collected at a traditional expo: domestic runners must provide a Taiwan delivery address, while overseas runners must nominate their accommodation address and confirm that the hotel can accept the package. The organiser plans to dispatch bibs, timing chips and shirts from 19 October. Parking around the mountain venue is limited, so runners should review the organiser's transport guidance and allow extra time for the early start.
