Event Detail

Xtrail Kenting by UTMB 2027 brings the UTMB World Series back to Taiwan's Hengchun Peninsula for a trail-running weekend based at Howard Beach Resort Kenting. The official event programme runs from 5 to 7 March, with racing on Saturday and Sunday across tropical coastline, grasslands, forest, rolling hills, river valleys, stony riverbeds and coral-limestone terrain. It is a significant international trail event for runners seeking either an accessible first taste of Kenting's trails or a long-course UTMB World Series challenge.

The headline Xtrail 100K starts at 04:00 on Saturday 6 March. Its official race-category name is 100K, while the measured course is 98 km with 3,291 m of climbing and a 24-hour maximum race time. The Xtrail 50K starts at 05:30 the same day, covering 50 km with 1,496 m of climbing and a 13-hour limit. On Sunday 7 March, the Xtrail 25K starts at 06:00 and covers 26 km with 589 m of climbing, followed by the Xtrail 10K at 07:00, whose measured course is 11 km with 201 m of climbing. The 2 km Kids Family Run starts at 07:30.

The courses showcase different sides of the Hengchun Peninsula. Longer runners encounter technical roots, uneven riverbeds, loose gravel, exposed grasslands, ridges and wind-shaped tropical terrain. The 25K uses dry riverbeds and forest paths around Menmaluo grassland and Little Jienshih Mountain, while the 10K follows a lighter coastal route towards the Dajianshih ridgeline. Official rules require runners to carry the mandatory equipment applicable to their race and to comply with equipment checks. Aid stations provide race support including drinks and food, while the event follows a bring-your-own-utensils approach rather than supplying disposable cups and bowls.

Registration is open on a first-come, first-served basis until 31 December 2026. Standard fees are USD 260 for 100K, USD 160 for 50K, USD 125 for 25K and USD 65 for 10K; the Kids Family Run is TWD 800. The 100K requires a valid 50K UTMB Index and awards three Running Stones, while the 50K requires at least a 20K UTMB Index and awards two. The 25K awards one Running Stone and does not require an Index.

The official schedule provides athlete check-in and expo from 13:00 to 18:00 on Friday 5 March, with another 13:00 to 18:00 window on Saturday for 25K and 10K runners. Participants should use the final race guide for any later operational changes.
