Event Detail

Black Ivory Trail Thailand 2026: Nan Exploring Run combines off-road racing in the hills, forests and rural landscapes of Mae Charim with an optional cultural warm-up in Nan city. Presented by Mission Earth, the programme takes place on 20–21 November 2026, with the three competitive trail starts on Saturday 21 November at the Mae Charim District Office football ground. The project aims to showcase the natural landscapes and cultural attractions of Nan province while supporting local tourism.

Choose your trail

  • Peak Challenge 12K, 06:00 start: approximately 310 metres of climbing, following forest paths and passing the Luang Sri Nan Charim great stupa. The organiser lists three water and first-aid checkpoints on the route.
  • Forest Trail 8K, 06:15 start: approximately 156 metres of climbing through rice fields, forest, a reservoir and the Phra That Yoi Hong area. Two checkpoints are advertised. Entry: THB 2,490. The ARC distance selector currently lacks an exact 8K option, so this category is documented here rather than incorrectly tagged as 7K or 10K.
  • Fun Trail 5K, 06:30 start: approximately 100 metres of climbing through fields and forest to Phra That Yoi Hong, with one checkpoint. This is a non-competitive participation category.

All three routes start and finish at the Mae Charim District Office. Race participants should follow the official route markings and marshals and must not leave marked trails. The published programme schedules the opening ceremony for 05:45, prize presentations from 08:15 and the event close at 11:30 on Saturday.

Optional Friday Nan City Run

All registered runners may opt in to a complimentary guided city-running activity on Friday 20 November. The evening route introduces Nan's landmarks, including Wat Phumin, Wat Ming Mueang, the old city walls and Nanthasippakhan Learning Centre. The organiser has not specified an exact start time for this activity; confirm it through the event's registration information.

Race pack and practical information

Race-pack pickup is available at Nanthasippakhan Learning Centre in Nan city, Friday 20 November, 12:00–20:00, and again at Mae Charim District Office, Saturday 21 November, 04:30–05:30. Bring your original national identity card or passport. Each registration is personal and bib transfers, loans and resale are prohibited.

The organiser advertises 16 hexagonal wooden podium trophies: top five men and women in the 12K and top three men and women in the 8K, with no age-group divisions. The first 50 finishers in each of those two competitive distances also receive a branded visor. The 5K does not award competitive places. Parking is available around the district office grounds, and travelling runners should allow extra time for rural roads and early starts.

Registration opens on 22 October 2026 at 10:00 Thailand time through the official event entry page hosted by RUNLAH. Entry fees and inclusions are subject to the organiser's latest booking conditions. The location pin identifies the Mae Charim District Office; runners should follow the organiser's race-day instructions for the precise field entrance.
