Khao Kho Run Through Mist Marathon 2027 - Phetchabun

The Khao Kho Run Through Mist Marathon 2027 invites runners into the highlands of Phetchabun on Sunday 8 August 2027. Organised by the Sports Association of Phetchabun, the event starts and finishes at the Sea of Fog viewpoint in Khao Kho. Expect a scenic but physically demanding mountain-road challenge, not a flat personal-best course. The 2027 theme is Mist and Culture.

Courses and climbing

The 42.195 km marathon passes Khao Kho Kindergarten School, the wind turbine field, Flower Land Khaokho and Wat Ban Na Yao before turning back on Route 2325. Its organiser-published course map indicates approximately 1,223 metres of climbing and a 1,222 metre descent, with 19 water stations and an eight-hour time limit. The 21 km half marathon has roughly 680 metres of climbing, eight published water stops and a five-hour limit. The 10 km mini marathon route map measures 10.32 km, with approximately 263 metres of ascent, four water stops and a four-hour limit. The 5 km fun run includes about 114 metres of ascent and one water station. Distances and climbing figures are taken from the organiser's 2027 route maps and may differ slightly from GPS measurements.

Race-day programme

The full marathon starts at 03:00 local time. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 04:30, followed by the half marathon at 05:00, 10K at 05:10 and 5K at 05:20. The results and awards programme is planned from 07:00 to 14:00. Conditions may be cool or misty at elevation in the early hours, so check the forecast and plan suitable layers, lighting and transport to the viewpoint. Course marshals and hydration stations are shown in the organiser's race material; follow their instructions throughout.

Awards and registration notes

The organiser advertises cash prizes and trophies for overall marathon, half-marathon and 10K winners, separate Thai overall awards and age-group trophies. The 5K has open-age trophies for its first five finishers. Marathon overall prize money for first, second and third is THB 7,000, 5,000 and 3,000, with different scales for shorter races. Registration is non-transferable, and the organiser may cancel invalid applications without refund. Early-bird pricing is offered through 31 October 2026 for the three longer distances, with regular pricing from 1 November. Confirm the live checkout rate before paying.

Race-pack collection

Collect your kit at the Sea of Fog viewpoint on Saturday 7 August, 10:00–18:00. Bring the tracking number or barcode and photo identification. Authorised collection by another person requires the participant's tracking details, the representative's ID and a copy of the runner's ID. Optional postal delivery costs THB 60 if selected by 10 June 2027; shipping is scheduled to begin 14 July. Follow organiser notices for any changes to routes, collection or safety arrangements.
