The ACR Bivy Stick is a compact two-way satellite communicator for trail runners, ultrarunners and fastpackers travelling beyond reliable mobile coverage. Paired with the Bivy app over Bluetooth, it uses the Iridium network for text messaging, GPS location sharing, tracking, weather information and offline route tools. A dedicated on-device SOS button can send coordinates to Global Rescue without relying on the phone interface, while the app supports two-way communication during an emergency.

The unit weighs 100 g and measures 4.47 by 1.85 by 0.83 inches. Its 1,400 mAh rechargeable battery is rated for up to 120 hours under standard settings, with USB-C charging. IPX7 water resistance and the supplied carabiner, cord and quarter-inch mount adaptor suit exposed trail use, although runners should still protect electronics from impact and prolonged immersion.

Satellite messaging and SOS functions require an activated Bivy service plan, and performance depends on a clear view of the sky. The US$199.95 reference price was checked on 23 October 2026. REI’s exact listing was sold out at the time, so availability should be confirmed before purchase.
