The Altra Torin ST is a supportive road-running shoe for daily training, recovery-paced kilometres and walking. It is aimed at runners who appreciate Altra's naturally shaped forefoot but want gentle guidance rather than a neutral-only design. The zero-drop platform places heel and forefoot at the same height, which may feel different from conventional raised-heel trainers.
Altra specifies its Altra EGO MAX midsole, a 28 mm stack height and GuideRail technology intended to provide medial guidance when needed. A breathable mesh upper, updated heel shape and more comfortable tongue are designed for everyday use. The FootShape Standard fit gives toes room to move while keeping a more secure midfoot than the brand's widest fit. The men's reference weight is approximately 294 g, varying by size.
Strengths include the combination of moderate cushioning, a broad toe area and a support-oriented design without a large heel lift. Limitations include road-focused outsole traction rather than technical-trail grip, and the adjustment some runners need when changing to zero drop. Guidance features are not a substitute for individual fit assessment. Check sizing, local availability and returns before ordering.
