Category Race Day Shoes

The New Balance SuperComp Rebel is a lightweight plated road-running shoe intended for quicker daily training, tempo sessions and race preparation. It is a new SuperComp design, distinct from the unplated FuelCell Rebel v4 and v5 shoes. Its purpose is to bring a race-inspired feel to repeated road workouts rather than act as a heavily structured stability trainer.

New Balance pairs Infinion foam with a propulsion plate and a sculpted, rocker-shaped midsole. The brand says this combination is intended to provide cushioning, energy return and a smooth transition through the stride. A FantomFit upper supports the midfoot and heel while keeping the construction relatively light. Official specifications give a 4 mm heel-to-toe drop and a reference weight of approximately 222 g (7.8 oz).

A responsive plated platform and secure upper are useful strengths for runners who enjoy a lively ride. However, the geometry may take some getting used to, and runners seeking a softer, more traditional easy-run shoe may prefer a different model. It is designed for roads, not technical trails. Review sizing, width options and return terms before ordering.
