ARC verdict
The NITECORE NU25 MCT UL is an ultralight rechargeable headlamp worth considering for night training, trail running, fastpacking and races where every gram in the vest matters. It is particularly interesting for runners who want a choice of warm, neutral and cool white light without carrying separate lamps. Its limitation is just as important: the small built-in battery cannot be swapped for fresh cells mid-race.
What the specifications actually mean
NITECORE lists 47 g including the bracket and headband, a maximum 400-lumen output and 132-metre maximum beam distance. The dual-core MCT UHE LEDs offer 3,000 K warm, 4,500 K neutral and 6,500 K cool white settings, alongside auxiliary red lighting. The integrated 700 mAh lithium-ion battery charges over USB-C. The manufacturer's maximum runtime of 45 hours is at only 6 lumens, not at full brightness: its high-mode table specifies approximately 2 hours 40 minutes at 400 lumens, with actual endurance dependent on conditions and settings. The body is IP66 rated for dust and powerful water jets, not immersion.
Who it suits and where it falls short
The light cord-style headband helps keep bulk down for warm and humid Asian runs. An independent assessment from The Trek liked its low mass and lighting flexibility but noted that the narrow band may not suit every head shape. For fast technical descents, check whether 400 lumens and your chosen beam setting provide enough usable illumination; a bigger lamp or a backup may be preferable. On an overnight ultra, plan charging time and carry a separate emergency light if race rules require it. A power bank does not turn the integrated battery into a replaceable one.
Model and buying checks
Look for the NU25 MCT UL, not the older NU25 UL or the heavier NU25 MCT with a conventional strap. Marketplace titles sometimes shorten the model name to NU25 UL; verify MCT, the 47 g configuration and 700 mAh specification. The manufacturer's package includes a USB-C cable, bracket/headband and diffusing storage sack. Check local warranty, charging equipment, race lighting rules and return conditions before purchasing.
Buying across Asia
The Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and Indonesia links below lead to researched regional model pages; stock can change, and some shops may list pre-orders or temporary sell-outs. The Shopee Indonesia button is an affiliate-linked model search, not a verified seller offer. Check that the retailer actually ships to your destination and that the listed variant is the MCT UL.
