Event Detail
4 Trails Ultra Loop (4TUL) returns to Hong Kong for its sixth edition from 5 to 7 March 2027. Founded in 2020 and organised by NRNG, this distinctive mountain challenge links the MacLehose, Wilson, Hong Kong and Lantau trail networks with required public-transport connections. The original full loop spans 189 km when transport sections are included; the 2027 competitive routes are shorter but still involve substantial climbing and strict transport checkpoints. It is aimed at experienced trail runners who can manage navigation, steep terrain, overnight movement and transport timetables.
Five 2027 categories
One Go covers 126 km with 5,854 m of ascent, starting and finishing at Tai Mo Shan. It is available to solo runners and four-person relay teams and is classified by the organiser in the UTMB 100M Index category. Warrior covers 104 km and 4,502 m ascent, starting at Tai Mo Shan and finishing at Kowloon Reservoir (UTMB 100K Index category). Half and Adventurer each cover 55 km with 1,941 m ascent, finishing at Mui Wo; Adventurer is explicitly non-competitive. Rocker is a 37 km mountain race with approximately 2,193 m ascent, starting at Tseng Lan Shue and finishing at Tai Mo Shan. The latter three are shown under the organiser's UTMB 50K Index classification, not as literal 50 km routes.
The 2027 redesign puts more emphasis on Lantau, including Ngong Ping and Lantau Peak, and incorporates Needle Hill on the MacLehose section. The 126 km relay divides the route into four legs involving Tai O, Mui Wo and Taikoo.
Starts and compulsory transport
Adventurer starts Friday 5 March at 23:59 at Tai Mo Shan Rotary Park. One Go, Warrior and Half start Saturday 6 March in selectable waves at 06:30, 07:00, 07:30 or 08:00 from the same park. Rocker starts Sunday 7 March at 09:00 from Tseng Lan Shue. All times are Hong Kong local time (UTC+8).
The first 25 km for Saturday's main races must be completed in time for the 10:30 ferry from Tuen Mun to Tai O; missing it means DNF. Adventurer has an earlier 08:00 ferry, with a 07:45 checkpoint deadline. Longer-course runners must also use the Mui Wo–Central ferry and MTR or organiser shuttle between Taikoo and Yau Tong. Participants pay their own public-transport fares; the specified Taikoo–Yau Tong shuttle is free. This makes timetable planning as important as pace.
Entry and runner arrangements
The published standard entry fees after the 20 September 2026 early-bird period are HKD 2,080 for One Go solo, HKD 2,280 per One Go relay team, HKD 1,880 for Warrior, HKD 880 each for Half and Adventurer, and HKD 580 for Rocker. Each format has a separate organiser registration link. No overall registration closing date was verified.
Free finish-point bag transfer is provided; One Go and Warrior runners can also collect a midway drop bag at Mui Wo. Pacers are prohibited and external support is restricted to checkpoints and Central Pier. Mandatory-kit details and race-pack collection dates/venue are still to be announced. The organiser lists a branded race shirt, gaiter, energy food and other race-pack items, with finisher socks, cap, medal and electronic certificate; One Go and Warrior finishers also receive a sun shirt. Trophies and sponsor prizes are planned, but detailed award amounts remain unpublished.
