Event Detail
The 10th IEM-UEM Kolkata Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, 21 February 2027 in Kolkata, West Bengal. The annual road-running event is organised by the Institute of Engineering & Management and University of Engineering & Management community. The organiser's 2027 announcement calls this its tenth edition, and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) lists the race as a full member with marathon, half-marathon and shorter road-running formats. It is a substantial university-backed city race rather than the separate Kolkata Full Marathon organised by NEB Sports earlier in February.
Background and race programme
The ninth edition on 22 February 2026 brought more than 3,000 runners to the city, including international entrants and members of the police and armed forces. AIMS reports that the 2026 programme comprised a full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.1 km), 10K and 5K, using certified-course standards. More than 475 students, faculty members and alumni helped deliver that edition, alongside traffic and safety support from the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate. The 2027 AIMS listing confirms the return of the marathon and half-marathon formats; the exact shorter-distance programme for 2027 has not yet been finalised. The organiser's existing website still describes 10K and 5K runs, but it retains 2026 information and should not be treated as a complete 2027 race guide.
Course and race-day preparation
Previous editions have been based around the IEM Management House and campus area in Salt Lake Sector V, Bidhannagar. This is a useful orientation point for travelling runners, but the 2027 start line, finish line, road closures and final route maps are not yet confirmed. The race is an urban road event, not a trail race. Participants should plan for Kolkata's February conditions, allow time for travel through a busy city, and check official route and transport advice closer to the event. Do not assume that previous-edition start times or aid-station locations will carry over unchanged.
Registration and runner information
The organiser's early October 2026 announcement says registration for the tenth edition is opening soon. As yet, there is no verified 2027 entry-fee table, closing date, flag-off schedule, course cut-off list or bib-collection timetable. The existing organiser website describes event shirts, electronic timing, finisher medals, food packets and prizes for leading runners, but these details relate to its still-displayed earlier programme and must be reconfirmed for 2027. Runners should wait for the updated official entry pages before relying on any fee or entitlement.
For visitors, the race's institutional base in the Salt Lake technology district provides a useful starting point for accommodation and transport planning. Keep an eye on the organiser's official website and Instagram account for the 2027 participant handbook, collection instructions, medical and hydration arrangements, course maps and confirmed reporting times.
