Event Detail
The MG Vadodara International Marathon 2027 is the fourteenth edition of Vadodara's established city road-race festival, scheduled for Sunday, 7 February 2027. The organiser describes the event as an AIMS-certified race and lists affiliations or accreditation with the Athletics Federation of India and Gujarat sporting bodies. It is also promoted as an Abbott World Marathon Majors qualifying race. Beyond competitive running, the event is built around Vadodara Marathon's long-running “Sports, Seva, Swachhta” theme, using the race platform to support civic and social causes.
The competitive programme includes a 42.195 km marathon, 21.098 km half marathon, 10 km run and timed 5 km, alongside community-oriented categories including the Heritage Run and Gazra Run. The current rules set minimum ages of 18 for the marathon and half marathon, 16 for the 10K and 14 for the timed 5K. Published cut-offs are six hours for the marathon, three hours 30 minutes for the half marathon, 90 minutes for the 10K and 45 minutes for the timed 5K.
Timed runners use electronic chip timing and must cross the timing mats at the start and designated checkpoints. The organiser publishes extensive on-course support for the longer races, including frequent water and feeding points, toilets, physiotherapy and first-aid locations, plus medical support at the start and finish. The full marathon schedule includes hydration or feeding support at multiple points from 2.5 km through 39 km, while the half marathon, 10K and 5K have their own published support plans. Finishers who complete a timed race within the applicable cut-off are eligible for a finisher medal, and online certificates are issued after the event.
The current rules instruct marathon, half-marathon, 10K and timed-5K runners to assemble in their respective bays by 04:00 IST. Exact 2027 category flag-off times have not yet been published on the official site, so runners should recheck the final race-day schedule before travelling. Current registration is open, while the earlier discounted period ended on 31 August 2026. Registrations may close earlier when capacity is reached. The exact 2027 marathon-expo and bib-collection schedule is also still to be announced, although the organiser states that bibs are collected personally at the expo unless an authorised representative follows the prescribed ID procedure.
