Event Detail
Gorai Beach Marathon is scheduled for Sunday 19 September 2027 on the coastline northwest of central Mumbai. Organised by Outplay Sports Foundation, the event combines road-running distances with a coastal conservation and beach-cleanup programme. Its campaign, Run for the Coast – Be a Guardian of Nature, invites participants to treat finishing a race and caring for the shoreline as complementary goals.
Races and early-morning programme
The programme starts with participant reporting between 5:00 and 5:30 am, a group warm-up and an environmental pledge. The 42.195 km full marathon is listed to begin at 6:00 am, followed by the 21.1 km half marathon at 6:15 am, the 10 km at 6:30 am and 5 km at 7:00 am. A family 3 km fun run and 2 km Guardian of Nature walk follow at 7:30 am. The organiser advertises provisional minimum ages of 18 for the full and half marathons, 14 for 10 km and 10 for 5 km, with the short family activities open to all ages. Final eligibility and course details should be checked before paying, since the organiser notes that categories may change.
The event is based at Gorai Beach. While its coastal theme promises a change from central Mumbai road-racing, the organiser has not yet published final turn-by-turn course maps, elevation or certified-course status. Plan for potentially humid September conditions, early travel and any access restrictions near the beach.
The coastal cleanup
After the running starts, the event shifts towards its environmental programme. The organiser schedules a beach cleanup from 8:00 am, waste sorting and marine-litter documentation around 9:30 am and an environmental awareness session around 10:00 am. Participants and volunteers may help collect plastic, separate rubbish, record litter types and learn about coastal ecosystems. The activities follow the wider International Coastal Cleanup approach. Organisers plan to involve schools, colleges, businesses, running clubs, community groups and conservation volunteers. Their published figures of 5,000-plus runners and 1,000-plus cleanup volunteers are targets, not confirmed participant counts.
Entering and preparing
Outplay's ticketing site lists initial entry prices of ₹1,000 for the half marathon, ₹800 for 10 km and ₹500 for 5 km. Those categories are displayed with availability, but ticket sales are marked not yet open, scheduled to begin 1 January 2027. Full-marathon, 3 km and 2 km prices are not yet shown there and should not be guessed. Beach-cleanup volunteer participation is promoted as free, with an e-certificate; the organiser also advertises an event T-shirt, finisher medal, Guardian pledge certificate, hydration and medical support for runners.
Gorai can involve a ferry journey across local creeks or an overland approach via Bhayander, so check route access, event shuttle updates and weather nearer race day. The official organiser website is the source for any changes to programme times and collection instructions.
