Event Detail
Patnitop Marathon returns on Sunday 9 May 2027 with a wide programme of timed road and ultra-distance races in the Shivalik hills of Jammu and Kashmir, northern India. Organised by I.K.A. Sports & Events, the event calls itself India's Most Beautiful Hill Race. The seventh-edition organiser artwork identifies six options, from an introductory 5K to a 100K ultra, allowing runners to choose an event suited to their preparation rather than treating the weekend as one single marathon distance.
The setting
Patnitop is a hill resort at roughly 2,024 metres above sea level, surrounded by cedar and blue-pine woodland with views towards the Chenab basin and Pir Panjal mountains. Its altitude and hilly setting make this a very different prospect from a flat, sea-level city race. Runners should train for sustained uphill and downhill sections, allow time to acclimatise to the elevation, and be prepared for changeable mountain weather. Course maps and final road restrictions should be checked close to the race date rather than assuming the route will be identical to a previous edition.
Distances and race-day cut-offs
The programme includes 100K, 75K, 50K, half marathon (21.1K), 10K and 5K. The 100K is scheduled to start at midnight with a 20-hour limit. The 75K has a published 15-hour cut-off, but its exact flag-off time has not been provided consistently across registration platforms. The 50K is advertised for 5:30am with a 10-hour cut-off. The half marathon starts at 6:30am with a four-hour limit, followed by 10K at 6:45am (two hours) and 5K at 7:00am (90 minutes). All timings are local India Standard Time and subject to confirmation by the organiser. The backend does not yet offer a 75K distance tag; that race remains part of the event, not a separate listing.
Safety and participation
The organiser sets a minimum age of 18 for the half marathon and ultra races, while the 5K and 10K accept participants from age ten. The 75K and 100K mandatory-gear list includes at least 1.5 litres of hydration capacity, a charged phone, headlamp with backup power, whistle, windproof or waterproof jacket, emergency blanket and sufficient nutrition. Officials may inspect equipment and announce extra requirements up to 48 hours beforehand. The organiser states that an ambulance, paramedical support, hydration and event volunteers will be present.
Planning for the start line
No on-the-spot registration is offered. Entrants should bring their valid bib, allow extra time for mountain-road access, and check directly with the organiser for the exact start/finish pin and race-pack collection arrangements before travelling. The advertised entry package includes an event T-shirt, medal, refreshments, sports hydration, photographs and a digital certificate. First, second and third place in each published age category are eligible for trophies. Entry prices and registration availability should always be checked in the live portal as offers can change.
