Event Detail

The Border 2026 is The Hell Race's demanding desert ultramarathon from Jaisalmer towards Laungewala in Rajasthan. The 19–20 December event commemorates the Indian soldiers who defended the Longewala post during the 1971 conflict. The organiser describes this as the ninth edition, with three point-to-point challenges across the Thar Desert rather than a conventional city loop. Its scale and extreme duration make it a distinctive Indian endurance race.

The desert courses

All three races start at 12 noon on Saturday 19 December from Indira Indoor Stadium in Jaisalmer. The 50 km Frontline Dash finishes at Siyamber Lake, with an eight-hour cut-off. The 100 km Soldier's March continues to Asutar and allows 16 hours, including the overnight section. The headline 100-mile race (approximately 161 km) runs towards the Laungewala War Memorial, with a 28-hour limit and a final deadline of 4 pm on Sunday 20 December. It traverses settlements including Alam ka Gaon, Asutar and Netsi. The organiser's listed 100-mile entry fee is ₹16,499, with registration and eligibility subject to confirmation.

The organiser characterises the terrain as relatively flat desert roads followed, especially in the longest category, by rolling sandy sections towards the finish. Expect prolonged exposure, headwinds, an afternoon in strong sun and the possibility of a cold night. Train for sustained hydration, navigation and the transition between daytime and overnight conditions; actual race-day weather should be checked close to departure.

Essential participant arrangements

Race-bib collection is scheduled for 17 and 18 December, 10 am–4 pm, at Indira Indoor Stadium. The compulsory race briefing and drop-bag handover takes place there on 18 December, 5–6 pm. Assembly begins at 11.30 am on race day. The organiser warns that missing the briefing can prevent participation, so runners arriving from outside Jaisalmer should plan accommodation and transport accordingly.

Aid stations are advertised approximately every 10 km, offering water, hydration supplies and simple food such as fruit, potatoes, sandwiches and warm drinks. Main meals are indicated at key ultra-distance points, while drop-bag access varies by race length. Organiser-listed race provisions include a bib, shirt, medal, food, medical support and transport. Transport and finish logistics deserve particular attention because the three categories finish in different places.

The registration partner lists this edition as intended for Indian participants; check eligibility and current ticket availability directly with the organiser before making travel or payment commitments.
