Event Detail

The 23rd Hamamatsu City Marathon takes place in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, on Sunday 14 February 2027. This established city road-running festival has 8,500 places across three distances: a Japan Association of Athletics Federations-certified 21.0975 km half marathon (5,000 places), a 5 km race (1,500) and 1.5 km children's and family events (2,000). Despite the name, there is no full marathon.

Half marathon and 5 km

The half marathon starts south of Hamamatsu City Hall at 09:00 JST and finishes at Yotsuike Park Athletics Stadium. Runners have 2 hours 30 minutes, with checkpoints at 13.6 km (10:35) and 19 km (11:10). Five drink stations at approximately 5, 8.2, 12.5, 14.5 and 19 km offer water and sports drinks. The organiser warns that any construction-related course change could affect the half marathon's certification.

The 5 km starts and finishes at Yotsuike Stadium at 08:50, with a 40-minute limit and a checkpoint at 4 km. The 1.5 km schoolchildren's starts are 08:15 (Years 3–4) and 08:30 (Years 5–6); the family race starts at 09:35. Family teams must include a primary-school child and an adult guardian and finish together. ARC lacks an exact 1.5 km selector, so those races are recorded here rather than misclassified.

Entry and runner services

Online entry through RUNNET runs from 1 September to 15 November 2026, closing sooner if places fill. The organiser reported on 9 October that the half marathon was already more than 80% subscribed. The half marathon is open to high-school-age runners and older; the 5 km accepts junior-high-school runners and adults. Children's 1.5 km entry costs JPY 2,000, while a two-person family entry costs JPY 4,500, plus JPY 1,000 per additional member.

Entrants receive an original event T-shirt. Race bibs and timing tags are scheduled for postal delivery in mid-to-late January, with no race-day check-in. Half-marathon baggage is transported from City Hall to the stadium finish. Awards go to the top six in each eligible division, excluding family teams.

Travel

The two venues are separate. City Hall is around 15 minutes on foot from JR Hamamatsu Station, while Yotsuike Stadium is around 15 minutes from Enshu Railway's Kamijima Station. Paid shuttle buses are planned. Neither venue provides event parking; use public transport and consult the official access guidance.

Race Pack Information

No on-site race-pack collection. The organiser will post race bibs and timing tags to registered participants in mid-to-late January 2027. Check your RUNNET postal address before registration closes.
