Event Detail

The 25th Ayahashi Kaichu Road Race 2027 in Okinawa Uruma is a major destination running festival on Sunday 24 January 2027, with a combined capacity of 7,000 runners. Its distinguishing feature is the Kaichu Road, a scenic approximately 4.7 km causeway across Okinawa's turquoise coastal waters towards Henza Island. The event starts and finishes at Yonashiro General Park in Uruma City, giving visitors a chance to experience a striking coastal route rather than a typical city-centre road race.

Courses and starting times

The organiser confirms three events, all using Japan Standard Time. The half marathon starts at 8:30 am, has a three-hour limit and is for participants aged at least 16. The 10 km starts at 9:20 am, has a 90-minute limit and welcomes entrants of junior-high-school age and above. A more relaxed 3.8 km Pokémon Run starts at 12:10 pm, with a one-hour limit and no age restriction. The Pokémon Run is a separate short-distance activity, not a conventional 5 km race, and is listed here in the description because ARC has no exact 3.8 km filter.

The race organisers have allocated approximately 2,800 places for the half marathon, 1,200 for the 10 km and 3,000 for the 3.8 km event. The 2027 edition is a milestone 25th running of the event. Uruma City promotes a lively race-village atmosphere, with a food market planned at the venue, while the local band HY has been announced as a guest for the Pokémon Run.

Entries and participant arrangements

The city and organising committee state that participants receive a commemorative event T-shirt and a drink. A special Pokémon medal can be selected as an additional option for the themed run; it should not be assumed to be included in every entry.

The main internet registration window is advertised from 3 August to 18 October 2026, or until the relevant category fills; the themed run may sell out earlier. Runners should confirm availability directly with the official registration platform, as closing dates and sold-out categories can change. The separately promoted hometown-tax entry route had an earlier deadline.

The event is scheduled to proceed in rain, but the organiser may cancel for dangerous weather. Expect exposed coastal conditions and check travel, parking, road closures and weather guidance before race morning.
