Event Detail

The 54th Morimachi Road Race takes place on Sunday 7 February 2027 in Mori, Shizuoka Prefecture. This long-running town race offers a half marathon, 10K, 5K and 3K from the Mori Cultural Hall area. The course introduces runners to a traditional Japanese town often called the Little Kyoto of Enshu, with sections of streets, riverside scenery and the surrounding countryside. The half marathon uses a loop course and is intended for runners comfortable with a fairly demanding time limit.

Race-day schedule and cut-offs

  • 5K: starts 9:20 am (Japan time).
  • Half marathon: starts 9:30 am; 2 hours 20 minutes maximum.
  • 3K: starts 9:40 am; elementary-school runners start at 9:45 am.
  • 10K: starts 9:50 am.
  • The half-marathon checkpoints close at 11:40 am at 17.8 km (near the Shiroshita intersection) and 11:50 am at 19.6 km (near the Morikawabashi West intersection). The programme finishes around midday.

Entering and preparing

The organising committee accepts 2,500 runners in total, with registration closing 15 November 2026 or earlier if capacity is reached. Only one race category may be entered per person. High-school and younger participants have separate fee scales, and children's 3K categories include an option for a parent or guardian to accompany them.

Participants receive an IC-timed race bib by post roughly ten days ahead of race day, so there is no ordinary race-day check-in. Finishers can obtain a web results certificate. Souvenir options include an original face towel, a local sweets assortment, a JPY 500 on-site shopping voucher or no souvenir. Age-category awards recognise leading finishers.

Getting there

The venue is Mori Cultural Hall (Miki Hall) in Mori town, reachable using the Tenryu Hamanako Railway via the Kakegawa area. Drivers must request runner parking when registering; parking is allocated according to event arrangements rather than first-come order. Organisers plan to publish updated parking and road-closure maps in January 2027. Check those arrangements before travelling and allow extra time for local traffic restrictions.

The race is scheduled to proceed in rain; consult the municipal race notice and organiser updates for final instructions.
