Chiba Aqualine Marathon 2026 - 8 November Event On Hold

The Chiba Aqualine Marathon organising committee announced on 6 October 2026 that it was suspending the event originally planned for Sunday 8 November. The decision followed Typhoon No. 25 damage and ongoing suspension of JR Uchibo Line railway services, which prevent sufficient transport to the Kisarazu/Sodegaura race area. The organiser is discussing whether to reschedule the race or cancel the 2026 edition outright and expects to communicate a decision after consulting the relevant parties. No replacement date has been confirmed as of 26 October 2026. Do not travel to Kisarazu expecting a race on 8 November. The original date and gun time retained in this calendar record are historical scheduled details, not a valid forthcoming start time.

The organiser has not yet announced final handling of entry fees or refunds; those arrangements will be communicated when the postponement-versus-cancellation decision is made. Registered runners should check their organiser email and the official race homepage for the next announcement. The decisive 6 October notice from Chiba Prefecture explains that around 60% of runners and volunteers were expected to use the disrupted rail service and that replacement buses could not reliably meet demand.

Original race programme (now suspended)

The 2026 event had advertised a 42.195 km marathon, 21.0975 km half marathon and wheelchair half marathon across the scenic Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, with 12,000 marathon places and 5,000 across the half-marathon divisions. The planned start was in front of Shiohama Park, Kisarazu. The original wheelchair half start was 09:40 JST and the marathon/half-marathon start 09:45 JST; these times must not be treated as active race-day instructions. The half marathon was to finish at Ushigome Coast, while the full marathon finished at the former Kisarazu City Hall after passing Sodegaura. The original cut-offs were 10:55 for wheelchair half, 13:10 for half marathon and 16:00 for marathon.

All advertised general and late-entry allocations had closed, including the final late-entry release on 31 May 2026. Previously published course routes, merchandise arrangements and transport restrictions are subject to the organiser's new decision. This listing will need another update when an official revised date or definitive cancellation is announced.
