Event Detail
Nagoya Women's Marathon 2027 is one of the world's most significant women-only road races and returns to Nagoya on Sunday, 14 March 2027. The race holds World Athletics Platinum Label status and the official event describes it as the Guinness World Records holder for the largest women's marathon, with the record standing at 21,915 finishers. The 2027 edition also serves as a Women's G1 round of Japan's Marathon Grand Championship Series and as a Japanese national-team selection race for both the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The 42.195 km marathon starts and finishes inside Vantelin Dome Nagoya on a JAAF and WA/AIMS-certified course. The route heads south before looping through central Nagoya, passing major city landmarks including the Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER, Nagoya Castle, Aichi Prefectural Government Office, Nagoya City Hall and the newer IG Arena. The official elevation profile shows a generally modest, rolling course rather than a mountainous one. Runners have a seven-hour overall time limit from the gun, with intermediate course-closure points enforced through the day and the finish scheduled to close at 16:10 JST.
Entry is open to female runners aged 19 or older on race day. Overseas entry is first come, first served, while Japan-resident categories use several entry pathways including general lottery, challenge, charity, travel plan and Heart Support. The overseas regular-entry window has been extended through 25 December 2026 unless capacity fills earlier.
General and non-invited elite runners must collect their number packets in person at Vantelin Dome Nagoya on Friday 12 March or Saturday 13 March; there is no race-day collection and third-party pickup is not permitted. The event's wider Marathon EXPO is also staged at the dome and is promoted as a major pre-race attraction.
Finishers receive an exclusive Baccarat crystal tumbler and an official New Balance finisher T-shirt. Overall awards go to the top eight, with age-group awards for the top three in each published age band. The 2027 winner's first-place prize is JPY 15 million, with additional prize money determined separately according to results.
