Event Detail

TAMBA100 Adventure Trail 2027 is a four-day mountain-running challenge in Tamba City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. Organised by the TAMBA100 Adventure Trail Executive Committee, this established event is known for unusually demanding climbing, navigation and long hours on steep mountain trails. The 2027 programme expands to a 220 km challenge with approximately 20,000 m of ascent, alongside its 100-mile and shorter trail races.

Routes and race schedule

The 220K starts at 16:00 on Thursday 3 June and allows 71 hours. The 100-mile race covers approximately 174 km with 16,300 m of ascent, starting at 06:00 on Friday 4 June, with a 57-hour limit. A runner on that course who reaches Gorinkan after approximately 102 km may receive a 100K finish under the organiser's rules; this is not a separate 100K start or a separately awarded race.

On Saturday 5 June, the organiser-labelled 50K actually covers about 55 km with 5,000 m of ascent, leaving Gorinkan at 10:00 and finishing at Tamba no Mori Park within 23 hours. The 20K covers about 22 km with 1,930 m of climbing, starting at Mizuwakare Park at 12:00 with an eight-hour limit. On Sunday 6 June, the 4.5 km normal race starts at 11:00, while 2.5 km children's, individual and family or pair events start at 09:00. These shorter options retain a genuine trail setting.

Entries, safety and logistics

Online entry links are provided by the organiser. The 100-mile and 100K finish options require an eligibility review, and the official site currently warns that 2027 100-mile ticket sales are suspended. The 50K and 20K have current-edition ticket pages. Check the live booking page for the applicable price and closing date: no single confirmed 2027 fee schedule is available for all distances. The ticket platform states that completed payments are generally non-refundable.

Race check-in is divided between venues. The main Tamba no Mori Park check-in operates on 3 June, with a pre-booked early option for 100-mile runners on 4 June. The 50K checks in at Gorinkan on 5 June, and the 20K at Mizuwakare Park the same morning. Bring identification, the printed and completed race waiver, purchase confirmation and mandatory equipment. The organiser intends to check that longer-distance runners have the latest GPX route loaded on a phone and watch.

The organiser provides 2027 route maps, GPX files and separate aid-station and checkpoint information. Download and review these before travelling; course details may be updated. For transport, Tamba no Mori Park is approximately a ten-minute walk from JR Kaibara Station. Mizuwakare Park is reachable from JR Iso Station, while a shuttle is planned for the 50K start at Gorinkan. Book accommodation independently using the organiser's local suggestions.

Awards

The published programme recognises overall and age-group leaders in the 20K and 50K, top six men and women in the 100-mile, and selected shorter-race finishers. There is no separate 100K award, and the non-competitive individual, pair and family categories have no placing awards. Exact 2027 finisher merchandise and race-pack entitlements have not been confirmed.
