THE CHALLENGE RACE YAMAGUCHI 3 is a Japanese road-running event on Saturday 20 March 2027 at Yamaguchi Kirara Expo Memorial Park in Yamaguchi Prefecture. This is the third separately scheduled race in the local 2027 series and is not the February event. The organiser confirms six disciplines: full marathon, 30 km, half marathon, 10 km, 5 km and one mile.
The course uses a 2.5 km loop in the park. The organiser describes it as notably flat, with a height variation within 1.5 metres. The full marathon and half marathon include additional turning sections to cover the correct race distances. Eleven pacing groups are available with full-marathon targets from 2 hours 40 minutes to 4 hours 20 minutes, supporting athletes seeking a measured personal best.
Registration and bib collection are scheduled from 8:00 to 9:00 am local time. The opening ceremony runs from 9:10 to 9:20 am. At 9:30 am the marathon, 30 km, half marathon, 10 km and 5 km start together. The separate one-mile event starts at about 9:33 am. Racing is scheduled to finish by 2:00 pm. Time limits vary by distance, including 4 hours 30 minutes for the marathon, 3 hours 12 minutes for 30 km, 2 hours 30 minutes for the half marathon, 90 minutes for 10 km, 40 minutes for 5 km and 12 minutes for one mile.
Entry fees are JPY 11,000 for the marathon, JPY 7,700 for either 30 km or the half marathon, JPY 5,500 for 10 km and JPY 3,300 for 5 km or one mile. Registration is advertised until 16 March 2027, subject to places remaining. The total field is limited to 500 entrants. Race-day services include course refreshments, chip timing, digital results certificates and photographs. Race bibs and timing chips are collected on site, with chips returned after the finish. Basic changing tents and toilets are provided; runners should not expect staffed valuables storage.
The event uses the Large Lawn parking area of Yamaguchi Kirara Expo Memorial Park, 509-50 Ajisu, Yamaguchi City. Allow around 30 minutes to walk from JR Ajisu Station or 15 minutes by taxi from Shin-Yamaguchi Station. The location pin is approximate to the park rather than the surveyed line.
