Event Detail
The 13th Katsushika Fureai RUN Festa takes place in eastern Tokyo on Sunday, 14 March 2027. Hosted by Katsushika Ward, its Board of Education and local athletics association, this well-established festival offers a Japan Association of Athletics Federations-certified half marathon and 10K, plus four shorter races for families and recreational runners. The combined entry capacity is 7,400.
Course and setting
All races start and finish at Horikiri Mizube Park beside the Arakawa River. The competitive courses follow flat riverside management roads with views of Tokyo Skytree. The open embankment can be breezy, and organisers may adjust the route if river works require it. Volunteer performers and local businesses help create a neighbourhood festival atmosphere.
Race-day schedule
The opening ceremony begins at 08:30 Japan Standard Time. The half marathon starts in waves from 09:00, followed by family 2K at 09:25, 1K at 09:55, 3K at 10:10, 5K at 11:35 and 10K at 12:15. The half marathon has a three-hour limit from its last wave and the 10K a two-hour limit; shorter races have no formal cut-off. Runners should assemble in their allocated blocks 15 minutes before starting.
Registration and services
Katsushika residents can use a discounted advance entry window from 1 to 21 October 2026. General registration opens on 22 October and closes on 4 January 2027, or earlier when full. RUNNET handles domestic entries and Run Japan offers an international route. The half marathon and 10K require high-school age or older; other eligibility rules depend on the distance.
Race bibs, timing chips and baggage labels are mailed around two to three weeks beforehand, with no usual expo collection. The park provides changing tents and self-service baggage storage, but runners must secure valuables themselves. Water stations are planned approximately every 3 km, including seven for the half marathon, three for 10K and one for 5K. Food stations serve the competitive races.
Travel and recognition
Horikiri-Shobuen Station is around 15 minutes away on foot; Yotsugi Station is approximately 25 minutes away. No car or motorcycle parking is available. The half marathon and 10K award overall and age-group places. Eligible half-marathon finishers may enter special draws for Tokyo Marathon 2028 entries under strict programme conditions.
