21st Setagaya 246 Half Marathon 2026

The 21st Setagaya 246 Half Marathon returns to Tokyo's Setagaya ward on 8 November 2026, using Komazawa Olympic Park Athletics Stadium as both the start and finish. The established urban race is built around National Route 246, one of the main arteries through Setagaya, and the 2026 edition marks a new step for the event as it is planned to be officially sanctioned by the Japan Para Athletics Federation as well as run under Japan Association of Athletics Federations rules.

The half-marathon course is World Athletics certified and JAAF certified. From Komazawa Olympic Park, runners head onto major ward roads including Route 246 before reaching Futakotamagawa and the Tama River corridor. The return uses sections of Tama-Tsutsumi Street, Meguro Street and Komahachi Street before finishing back inside the stadium. The organiser notes that parts of the route include gravel or unpaved surface, so this is not an entirely smooth city-road course.

The half marathon starts at 08:30 and has a 2 hour 10 minute limit. Five checkpoints operate for traffic, safety and race-management reasons, with runners who miss a checkpoint closure required to leave the course. Timing uses tags attached to race bibs, with gross time used for rankings and net time also recorded for reference.

Entry was conducted by lottery, with a 2,000-runner half-marathon capacity and applications open from 1 to 31 July. Participant information and timing-tag bibs are mailed in advance, so there is no race-day registration. Free baggage storage is provided for half-marathon runners, excluding valuables. The programme also includes track time trials at Komazawa after the half marathon.
