Event Detail
Shinagawa City Run 2027 brings a substantial community running festival to Tokyo's waterfront on Sunday, 14 March. Organised by the Shinagawa City Run Executive Committee with Shinagawa Ward as co-host, it combines a competitive 10K road race with shorter events for young runners, families and wheelchair users. The organiser has announced capacity for 2,500 entrants in the 10K, 250 in the junior race, 30 in the wheelchair challenge and 300 family pairs.
Waterfront 10K course
The 10K starts at Shinagawa Kumin Park and finishes at Oi Racecourse. It passes sections of the historic Old Tokaido road, Tennozu and the Keihin Canal, offering a mix of old Tokyo streets and modern waterfront views. Two intermediate control points are planned near Higashi-Shinagawa 3-chome (around 2.7 km) and the Keihin Canal Greenway exit (around 6.8 km). The 10K has a 90-minute limit and wave starts from 09:00 JST.
Community races
The 2K junior run starts at 09:30 and has a 20-minute limit. An approximately 900-metre wheelchair challenge begins at 10:00, also with a 20-minute limit. The 1K family waves begin at 10:30, 10:40 and 10:50, with a 40-minute limit. These shorter events start and finish within Shinagawa Kumin Park. The wheelchair challenge has no exact ARC distance category, so its actual distance is noted here rather than mislabelled. Junior entrants must be eligible local school pupils; the wheelchair event is for Shinagawa residents and family entrants must include a parent or guardian with a child.
Entry and logistics
Registration via RUNNET closes on 27 October 2026 at 23:59 JST. Places are allocated by lottery if applications exceed capacity, with a priority allocation for Shinagawa residents. Results are scheduled for 12 November and payment is due by 27 November. Only one race category may be entered per person. Paid entry fees are not refunded under the published cancellation terms.
The event site opens at 07:00, with an opening ceremony at 08:45. Bibs and participant instructions are mailed ahead of race day, so no on-site bib collection is planned. Baggage storage and changing facilities are at Oi Racecourse. Water stations and medical assistance are provided; the final participant guide will specify operational details.
For transport, Tachiaigawa Station on the Keikyu Line is about five minutes from the park. The 10K finish at Oi Racecourse is approximately two minutes from Oi Keibajo-mae Station on the Tokyo Monorail. Allow extra time for road closures and the different finish locations.
The wheelchair challenge entry fee is JPY 1,000; ARC has no matching 900-metre distance option.
