Tachikawa City Half Marathon 2027 is a major road-running event in western Tokyo, Japan, held on Sunday 14 March. The programme combines a World Athletics-certified half marathon and 10K with shorter races for families, children and recreational runners. Its distinctive course starts on the broad runway in Tachikawa before continuing along city roads and finishing inside Showa Memorial Park. The half marathon, 10K and one-mile events are listed as World Ranking Competition races.
The 10K starts at 09:30 Japan time, followed by the half marathon at 10:00. The 3K fun run starts in separate waves at 12:40 and 12:50. One-mile races begin from 13:00 and the one-mile parent-child races from 14:00. The organiser allocates 7,000 half-marathon places, 1,000 for the 10K, 600 for the 3K, 1,500 for the mile and 450 parent-child pairs. All are part of one event.
The half marathon finishes by 12:40, with intermediate checkpoints at approximately 5K, 7.5K, 10.5K and 15K. The 10K also has road-reopening checkpoints. Participants are placed into start blocks based on recent or predicted race times. General, student and intellectual-disability half-marathon divisions are offered. Age and eligibility rules vary by race.
Registration is scheduled from 16 October to 4 November 2026 through Sports Entry, closing earlier if capacity is reached. Additional processing fees apply. Participant instructions, bibs, timing chips, temporary park-entry tickets and baggage labels are mailed in late February, so there is no race-day bib collection desk. The organiser provides changing facilities and a self-service baggage area near the finish, but valuables remain the runner's responsibility.
Public transport is recommended because of race-day traffic restrictions. Showa Memorial Park is accessible from JR Tachikawa and Nishi-Tachikawa stations. Awards are available across the main competitive categories, and some eligible runners may be considered for partner-race opportunities, including Tokyo Marathon 2028. Runners should consult the official final instructions for the confirmed course, access procedures and race-week updates.
