Yakushima Ultra ECO Maranic 2027 - 10th Edition

The 10th Yakushima Round-the-Island Ultra ECO Maranic takes place on 10 January 2027 on Yakushima, a Japanese island renowned for its forested mountains and UNESCO World Natural Heritage landscape. The event combines island exploration with demanding endurance running. Its 100 km circuit starts and finishes at Yakushima Town Office in Koseda, while the 55 km course starts there and ends at Youth Travel Village. The 26 km solo and family runs begin at Nagata Inakahama Beach and end at Youth Travel Village.

The organisers describe a hilly 100 km course with approximately 2,200 metres of cumulative ascent. A substantial section passes the western forest road, where runners may encounter native Yaku deer and macaques. The 100 km starts in waves from 4:50 am to 6:00 am, with the final cut-off at 9:00 pm. The 55 km starts at 5:50 am and the 26 km at 8:30 am; both have a 2:15 pm finishing cut-off.

Pre-race check-in is 1:00 pm–7:30 pm on 9 January at Anbo Gymnasium, alongside an evening gathering. Organiser shuttle services are planned, with early-morning reservations required via official LINE. Entry fees are JPY 18,000 for 100 km, JPY 10,500 for 55 km, JPY 6,500 for 26 km solo and JPY 8,000 for a 26 km family group. Registration through RUNNET closes 31 October 2026 unless capacity is reached earlier. Original event shirts and eco bags are provided, with Yakusugi wood awards for finishers.
