Event Detail
Angsi Forest Challenge 2026 was the fourth edition of a major Malaysian mountain-trail event, raced on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2026 at Taman Eko Rimba Ulu Bendul, near Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. The 2026 edition adopted the theme "Enter the Forbidden Trail" and attracted more than 900 participants, including 45 international runners from eight countries. The event was organised in partnership with the Negeri Sembilan Forestry Department and the state tourism authorities, with All Trail Project Event Management providing race organisation.
Mountain routes and the Riggers Hill challenge
The headline Riggers 50 covers 50 km through demanding forest terrain, featuring Gunung Angsi and the notorious Riggers Hill climb. The 50K format comprises two demanding 25 km loops and gains roughly 3,000 metres, depending on the measurement source. The Angsi 25 is the shorter 25 km mountain challenge. The Sunday programme featured Bukit Putus 14 and MGP 14 race divisions over 14 km, the more accessible Kak Lang 6 over 6 km, and a new 2 km Kids Trail. The organiser also offered mixed duo and mixed duo relay entries in the Riggers 50, so its two-person categories should not be confused with an individual 50K registration.
The official timetable places Riggers 50 at approximately 6:00 am on Saturday and the Angsi 25 around 7:00 am. Shorter races followed on Sunday morning, with start times dependent on category. Final category wave and cut-off details can be checked against the organiser's 2026 race schedule attached in the event gallery. The youngest Kids Trail category was advertised for children aged 7–12, with more than 50 young participants reported.
Race-weekend outcome
Reporting on 26 September confirmed more than 900 participants across the weekend, including overseas runners from the United Kingdom, Thailand, India, the Philippines, Indonesia, France, Singapore and Kazakhstan. One detailed race report records Zar Emrydeka Putera winning Riggers 50 in 8:57:46, ahead of Yong Kok Lam (9:24:25) and Wong Kok Wah (9:39:31). The report describes oppressive humidity followed by substantial afternoon rain, demonstrating the challenging conditions competitors faced. These are historical results, not projections of future performance.
Equipment, safety and race entitlements
The competitive 50 km, 25 km and 14 km divisions used electronic timing and staffed course aid stations. The 6 km and Kids Trail did not have the same timing and on-course aid arrangements. All five distance categories included an event T-shirt, bib, finish-line refreshments, medical support and group personal insurance. Eligible finishers earned a medal; a finisher T-shirt was restricted to 50K, 25K and 14K participants who finished within the required cut-off.
Longer-distance athletes faced mandatory gear checks, including requirements for personal hydration, a functional phone and emergency safety equipment according to the category. Race officials could impose time penalties or disqualify participants for missing equipment, cutting the course, littering or accepting prohibited assistance. The official rules required individual competitors to travel on foot, without outside pacers.
Registration and race-pack collection
This edition has already been completed, and registration is closed. The organiser published several historical pricing windows, with discounts for groups of at least five and returning 2025 entrants. For context, the super-early single-entry fees started at RM265 for 50K, RM215 for 25K, RM115 for 14K, RM45 for 6K and RM30 for the Kids Trail, before booking charges. Later fees were higher; these original promotional rates are not available for new registration.
Race packs were collected at Taman Eko Rimba Ulu Bendul on Friday 25 September (3:00–10:00 pm), Saturday 26 September (3:00–6:00 am and 10:00 am–6:00 pm) and Sunday 27 September (5:00–7:30 am). The start/finish area was in the eco-forest park, approximately 20 km from Kuala Pilah via the Seremban–Kuala Pilah road. The mapped coordinates indicate the park site, not the exact 2026 timing gantry.
