Langkawi International Half Marathon 2026

Langkawi International Half Marathon 2026 returns to the Malaysian island of Langkawi on Saturday, 12 December for its fifth edition. The event has grown rapidly since its early editions: published race material reports participation rising from about 2,200 runners in 2022 to 6,850 in 2025, with the 2026 field capped at 7,000. The race is positioned as a destination half marathon, combining an established competitive road event with a weekend on one of Malaysia's best-known holiday islands.

The 21.1 KM race starts and finishes at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) in Padang Matsirat, close to Langkawi International Airport. Current race information describes the course as relatively flat and suited to road racing, with the route leaving MIEC for Langkawi's open island roads before returning to the exhibition centre. Previous and current race material highlights the unusual indoor start/finish setting at MIEC, giving runners an air-conditioned assembly and finish area before and after racing in Langkawi's tropical conditions.

The half marathon starts at 5:00 AM MYT. International registration remains available later than the main local registration window, with the international entry deadline published as 31 October 2026. The event is restricted to runners aged 18 and over for the international half-marathon category.

Race-pack collection is scheduled for 10-11 December, from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM, at Lagenda Beach. Runners travelling to Langkawi should allow time for island transport and collection before race morning. The event's strong destination appeal, large field and established international participation make it one of Malaysia's significant year-end half marathons.
