Event Detail
Malaysia Taman Negara Ultra 2026 returns to Kuala Tahan, Jerantut for its third edition, staging a substantial trail-running festival in and around the tropical rainforest of Taman Negara. The event is tied to the Visit Malaysia 2026 eco-tourism programme and has grown well beyond a small local ultra. The organiser reported 2,208 confirmed runners by 23 September, bringing together Malaysian and international trail runners for a weekend centred on one of the country's best-known natural landscapes.
The published programme spans 100K, 50K, 30K, 15K and a family-friendly 7.5K. ARC can currently encode the first four distances accurately; the 7.5K remains part of the official event but is not being mislabelled as a 7K category. Organiser course material describes steep, technical forest terrain with substantial climbing and tropical humidity. Published elevation-gain figures are 6,134m for 100K, 3,209m for 50K, 1,793m for 30K and 1,035m for 15K. ITRA / Trace de Trail also carries current traces for the main courses, and the organiser announced in late September that the latest GPX files were live for runners.
Race operations have been updated during the final build-up. Following coordination with the relevant authorities, the organiser moved the 100K flag-off to 22:00 MYT on Friday 23 October and confirmed a 38-hour cut-off, with the final cut-off at noon on Sunday 25 October. The 30K cut-off was also extended to 13 hours. Runners should therefore follow the latest organiser notices rather than older schedule artwork, some of which still carries superseded times.
The event is run on a semi self-sufficient basis. Published guidance says nine checkpoints provide water, isotonic drinks and fruit. Mandatory safety equipment includes a headlamp, whistle, hydration pack, emergency blanket and basic first-aid kit, with additional wet-weather and navigation items recommended for the jungle environment. Current event material identifies the Public Guarded Car Park in Kuala Tahan as the REPC and finishing-line area, while ITRA course traces reference Jetty Taman Negara Kuala Tahan as the start point for the main trail routes.
