Kwong Wah City Run 2026

Kwong Wah City Run 2026 is a 6 km fun run through the streets of George Town, Penang, on Sunday, 6 December 2026. Organised by Kwong Wah Yit Poh Press Berhad, with Actife Style Concept Sdn Bhd as co-organiser, the event starts and finishes at The Galleria, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah. The 2026 edition has a stated capacity of 1,000 participants, making it a community-scale road run rather than an unlimited-entry mass marathon.

Scenic George Town streets

The organiser has published a six-kilometre circuit starting on Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah and proceeding along Jalan Clove Hall, Jalan Burma, Jalan Pangkor, Jalan Kelawai and Persiaran Gurney, before returning along Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah. This route combines central George Town neighbourhood streets with the seafront Gurney area, providing a different experience from running on an enclosed track or park path.

Flag-off is at 7:00 am Malaysia time. Runners must report to the start line by 6:30 am, giving themselves time to locate the start area and hear final safety instructions. The organiser sets a 90-minute time limit for the 6 km course. A sweeper vehicle may collect participants who fall behind the required progress; those who refuse a marshal's instruction to stop or board a sweeper are no longer treated as event participants and will not qualify for the finisher medal or electronic certificate.

Participation and event rules

This is a 6 km Fun Run open to Malaysian and overseas participants aged 13 and over. The published entry options include an early-bird allocation for the first 300 runners, standard individual registration and a discounted group-of-five package, all subject to registration availability and processing fees. The official registration deadline is 28 October 2026 at 11:59 pm Malaysia time, or sooner if slots sell out.

Participants receive a special edition event T-shirt, running wristband and sponsor items, with organiser-provided personal accident insurance. Finishers collect an event medal by showing and exchanging their wristband after completing the route within the time limit. The medal must be collected on race day; it will not be held for later collection.

Race-pack collection and transport

Race-pack collection is at Wisma Kwong Wah Yit Poh Press Berhad, 19 Lebuh Presgrave, George Town, not at The Galleria. The two sessions are Friday 4 December, 10:00 am–5:00 pm, and Saturday 5 December, 10:00 am–2:00 pm. Bring a printed or digital registration receipt. A friend may collect on a runner's behalf using their receipt, but there is no collection on race morning.

George Town visitors should distinguish the collection venue near the historic city centre from the starting point on Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah. Plan travel and parking with possible road controls around the course in mind. Expect warm, humid conditions and allow for rain, hydration needs and any updated traffic or weather guidance.
