Event Detail
Serian Eco Run 5.0 2026 is a cross-country running event in the rural landscapes of Kampung Daha Kisau, Tebedu, Serian Division, Sarawak, on Sunday, 8 November 2026. The fifth edition combines a competitive 21 km cross-country half marathon, a 10 km challenge and a welcoming 5 km fun run. It is associated with the Serian District Council and local community organisations, promoting outdoor exercise alongside the Bidayuh cultural setting of the Tebedu area.
Race-day programme
The official 2026 event poster gives three separate flag-off times:
- 21 km cross-country half marathon: 6:15 am
- 10 km race: 7:00 am
- 5 km fun run: 7:30 am
All times are Malaysia local time. The poster advertises a five-hour cut-off for the 10K, ending at 12:00 noon, and a three-hour cut-off for the 5K, ending at 10:30 am. The 21K poster is slightly inconsistent: it says seven hours but prints 1:00 pm as the cut-off, whereas seven hours after a 6:15 am start would be 1:15 pm. Runners in that category should confirm the binding deadline with the organiser or final race briefing.
Eligibility and experience
The 21K and 10K competitive divisions are separated into men's and women's Open (18–40 years) and men's and women's Veteran (41 years and over). The registration terms state that these competitive categories are for Malaysian citizens, while the 5K fun run is open to all participants. Entrants should select their correct age and gender division rather than register for a category they are not eligible to contest.
Serian Eco Run is marketed as a cross-country rather than a conventional urban road marathon. The surrounding Tebedu countryside has villages, agricultural landscapes and tropical vegetation, and the rural setting is part of the appeal. Nevertheless, the official 2026 poster does not supply a detailed turn-by-turn route, GPX track, total elevation gain or confirmed road/trail surface percentages. Entrants should follow the organiser's final route map and instructions, prepare for humid weather and potentially muddy ground, and avoid assuming the half marathon is road-certified at precisely 21.0975 km.
Entry, race packs and facilities
The official poster lists early-bird registration for the first 100 entrants or until 31 August 2026, with regular prices thereafter. Entries closed on 7 October 2026. Those prices are retained as historical information only; this listing does not imply that fresh entries remain available.
The advertised runner entitlements include an event T-shirt, finisher medal, electronic certificate, timing chip, hot meal and an enjoyable community race atmosphere. A separate finisher T-shirt applies to the 21K only, not automatically to the 10K or 5K. Actual award eligibility and timing-chip use should follow the organiser's category rules.
The Malaysia Runner listing still shows race-pack collection venue and time as TBA, so no location or collection session is invented here. Contact the event team before travelling if you are already registered.
Getting to Kampung Daha Kisau
The start and finish are in Kampung Daha Kisau, near Tebedu, south of Serian town. This is not central Kuching or the town centre of Serian. Allow additional time for a rural journey, parking, assembly and early flag-offs. The coordinates attached to this listing come from Malaysia's official geographical name gazetteer for Kampung Daha Kisau and indicate the village, not a verified start arch or race-pack collection point.
