Event Detail
2026 Gyeongpo Marathon is a coastal road-running event based at Gyeongpo Beach Central Plaza in Gangneung on South Korea's East Sea coast. The current programme combines a timed half marathon and 10K with a 4.7K health run, plus a five-runner team competition over the half-marathon distance. All routes start and finish at the beach and use the coastal road network north of Gyeongpo.
Race morning begins with assembly at 07:30 KST and an opening ceremony at 08:00. The half marathon starts at 08:30, followed by the 10K at 08:40 and the 4.7K health run at 08:50. Half-marathon runners have 2 hours 30 minutes to finish, the 10K has a two-hour limit and the health run has a one-hour limit. The half and 10K are measured by net time from the timing mat, although awards are decided by gun time. The 4.7K is not chip-timed and has no awards.
The half-marathon course heads north along the coast past Gyeongpo Artificial Waterfall, Sacheon, Yeongok Beach and Yeongjin Beach before returning to the same event hub. Current race rules list water at the finish and several points from 5K onwards, with sports drink, banana and an energy gel supplied on the longer route. Changing rooms and baggage storage operate at the venue.
Participant souvenirs and bibs are sent before race day, with timing chips attached to Half and 10K bibs. Finishers receive a medal, snack and water, and timed runners receive a mobile result certificate. Bib transfers are prohibited. The organiser moved the 2026 race forward from 17 October to 10 October because Gangneung is hosting the ITS World Congress later in the month, so older listings may still show the original date.
