Event Detail

The 2026 Chuncheon Marathon marks the event's 80th anniversary, tracing its history back to 1946. One of South Korea's most established autumn road races, it is held in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, with a full marathon on the internationally certified Uiam Lake loop and a separate 10K.

The full marathon starts at Gongjicheon Bridge and finishes in front of the Gongjicheon football fields. The organiser describes a course that mixes scenic lakeside running with several meaningful climbs. There is a gentle rise soon after the start, rolling terrain around Songam Sports Town and a longer uphill section approaching Chuncheon Dam. Much of the middle of the race follows Uiam Lake before the route turns back towards central Chuncheon. The final kilometres are flatter and more urban. The 10K also starts at Gongjicheon Bridge and returns there after a shorter route through the sports-town area.

Both races start at 09:00 KST on Sunday, 25 October 2026. The full marathon has a 5 hour 30 minute limit and the 10K has a 1 hour 30 minute limit. Official aid stations provide water and sports drink every 5 km. Sponge stations begin from 12.5 km at 5 km intervals, with additional food planned on course. Changing facilities and baggage storage are provided at the assembly area, and recovery buses and medical vehicles operate for runners who cannot continue.

The 2026 race is sold out after staged registration windows and a final supplementary entry period in September. Race numbers, timing chips, participant gifts, the programme book and the official gear-storage bag are shipped to participants before race week. The 2026 participant package includes an 80th anniversary jacket and commemorative T-shirt, while finishers receive the official 80th anniversary medal.
