2026 Taoyuan Shimen Reservoir Half Marathon

The 2026 Taoyuan Shimen Reservoir Half Marathon takes place in Daxi, Taoyuan on Sunday, 6 December. Taoyuan City Government describes it as an annual large-scale national road race, and current launch material identifies the 2026 race as the 11th edition after more than 6,000 participants joined the previous year.

The programme includes a 21.0975K half marathon, 10K road race and 5K leisure run, with additional visually impaired and disability divisions. The half marathon starts at 06:30, followed by the 10K at 06:40 and the 5K at 06:50. Published time limits are 3 hours 30 minutes for the half, 1 hour 40 minutes for the 10K and one hour for the 5K. Current entry caps are 1,200, 2,200 and 2,600 runners respectively.

The longer races use roads around Shimen Reservoir and combine lakeside and dam scenery with sustained climbing. Current route information places the half marathon and 10K on roads towards Minzhi Road, Songtai, Huancui Tower and the dam-crest area before returning along the reservoir. The 5K turns earlier and avoids the main climb.

Registration opened on 26 June and closed at 23:59 on 25 September 2026, or earlier if capacity was reached. The event also leans into its Taoyuan setting. Current race information promotes local Daxi and Dalongmen food at aid stations, including tofu products, radish cake and traditional snacks, with roast wild boar specifically highlighted for half-marathon runners. The organiser has also promoted lower-waste measures such as local-food sourcing, shuttle transport, electronic finisher certificates and an electric lead vehicle.
