Event Detail
Taichung's Food Safety Cup Marathon returns for its second edition on Saturday 19 December 2026, combining distance running with a public campaign for safer food and healthier living. The Chinese Food Safety Control System Development Association and Taiwan Big Foot Running Association organise the event with support from Taichung City Government agencies. The organiser lists a combined capacity of 2,800 runners across four distances, from the 5K participation run to the full marathon.
Course and race morning
The start and finish are at Central Stadium in Taichung Central Park, Xitun District. The marathon and half marathon head along Kaixuan, Liming, Zhongke and Keya roads towards the Tan-Ya-Shen cycling greenway. The half-marathon course turns near Tank Park, while the longer route continues beyond it before returning through Central Park. The 10K uses surrounding urban streets and the 5K follows a shorter Central Park loop. The routes combine city roads, bridges and greenway paths; follow the organiser's final maps and marshals rather than assuming an entirely traffic-free course.
Runner check-in begins at 05:30 and the opening programme at 06:00. The 42K and 21K start together at 06:30, followed by the 10K at 06:40 and 5K at 06:50, all Taiwan time (UTC+8). Time limits are seven hours, four hours, two hours and 80 minutes respectively. The organiser schedules awards from 09:30 and an early-afternoon finish to the programme.
Entry and practical arrangements
The current registration page accepts entries until 1 November 2026, unless places fill sooner. Published entry prices exclude a TWD 100 refundable timing-chip deposit and courier charges. Race materials are sent by domestic courier during the week before the race; the rules say there is no in-person or race-morning pack collection. Overseas visitors should clarify a suitable Taiwan delivery address with the organiser before entering. Completed registrations are generally not refundable or transferable under the published rules.
Marathon refreshment points are planned at approximately 2.5 km intervals, offering water, sports drinks, fruit and selected local foods. Basic medical points are listed around 25K and 35K, with mobile assistance on the route. Shorter distances also have regular refreshments. Baggage storage is available, but runners should retain valuables.
The entry package includes a commemorative shirt, race bib, event insurance and, for finishers, a medal, towel, certificate and souvenir items. Sponsor gifts differ by distance and may be subject to eligibility conditions. Men's and women's overall winners in the 42K, 21K and 10K are listed for TWD 10,000 first prizes, with further placings and age-group trophies; the 5K has trophy awards. Optional first-marathon and milestone-marathon awards carry additional charges.
