Event Detail
Gaomei Wetlands Marathon 2027 brings four road-race distances to Taichung's Qingshui coast on Sunday 14 March 2027. The event is organised by the Taichung City Jogging Society and is built around the coastal landscape and rural roads near the internationally known Gaomei Wetlands ecological area. Runners can choose the full marathon, half marathon, 10K or 5K, with all races starting and finishing at the North Siltation Area Seawall beside the Taichung District Fishermen's Association Second Parking Lot.
The 42K route heads from the seawall through Haiyang Road, the Beidi Road cycle path and Gaomei Road before continuing through rural embankment roads towards the Datian industrial road turnaround. The 21K turns near Santai Temple on Xitou Road, while the 10K turns near Xi'an Chaotian Temple and the 5K uses a shorter coastal out-and-back. The full-course plan lists 14 aid stations at roughly 2.8 to 3 kilometre intervals. In an environmental measure aimed at reducing waste, 21K and 42K runners receive a reusable cup clip from the third aid station and disposable water cups are not provided from the fourth station onward.
Starts are staggered from 06:00 for the marathon, followed by 06:10 for the half marathon, 06:20 for the 10K and 06:30 for the 5K. Published limits are 6 hours 30 minutes, 4 hours 30 minutes, 2 hours 30 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes respectively, with the overall event scheduled to finish at 13:00. Baggage storage opens at 05:20 and runners must retain their bib to reclaim deposited items.
For domestic entrants, bibs, timing chips and other pre-race materials are mailed one to two weeks before race day, so there is no normal race-day packet collection. Foreign entrants are handled differently because the platform does not support overseas card payments or international transfers: the organiser instructs them to arrange payment through a Taiwan contact and complete check-in at the event service desk before their race. Runners aged 14 and over may enter the 42K and 21K, with parental consent required for entrants under 18.
