Event Detail
The 2026 SKYHUNTER Shilin Trail (士林越野) takes place on Sunday 8 November 2026 at Soochow University's Waishuanghsi campus, in Taipei's Shilin District. Organised by the Taiwan Trail Running Association (TTRA), the event explores steep wooded ridgelines and historic stone-quarry paths between Shilin and Neihu, with dramatically different options for families, newer trail runners and experienced ultra-distance competitors.
Five official events and start times
- SKY FAMILY 3K: family trail run for children aged 12 or under accompanied by a guardian; 200 m ascent, 09:30 start, regular fee TWD 800, maximum 100 entrants.
- SKY SHORT 8K: actual advertised course length 8.2 km, 380 m ascent, ages 6+, 09:00 start, TWD 1,500, maximum 400.
- SKYRACE 24K: 1,250 m ascent, ages 16+, 08:00 start, seven-hour cut-off at 15:00, TWD 2,600, maximum 400, ITRA 1 point.
- SKY ULTRA 50K (solo): 3,200 m ascent, ages 18+, 05:00 start, 14-hour cut-off at 19:00, TWD 3,800, maximum 200, ITRA 3 points. An eligible 25 km+ trail finish or roughly sub-five-hour marathon fitness is required.
- SKY ULTRA GROUP 50K: three runners per team, including at least one woman, with the same 05:00 start, ascent and time limit. Entry is TWD 11,400 per team (not per person); 50-team capacity, based on the last teammate to finish. This is not a relay.
The genuine 8.2K and 24K races cannot be represented exactly in ARC's current distance filters, so their specifications are preserved here and not substituted with 7K, 10K or 25K. All advertised times are local Taiwan time (UTC+8).
Course safety and awards
The organiser publishes course maps, GPX downloads, aid stations and mandatory-gear lists. Expect sustained climbing, off-road footing and exposure to changing mountain weather. Runners must use the required equipment, remain on the marked course and comply with cut-offs. Men's and women's category winners receive prizes, including a published cash-award programme for the longer races. The solo 50K's first-place prize is TWD 20,000.
Registration and race packs
Regular registration closed on 1 October 2026, with the early-bird discount having ended earlier. Under-18 entrants need a signed parental-consent form; transfers, substitutes and running under someone else's bib are prohibited. Some eligible entrants may qualify for member or youth subsidies. The optional eco entry is TWD 300 cheaper but does not include the event shirt or participant gift.
Race packs are posted only within Taiwan (postage charge applies) or collected from MCSQ store, No. 33, Lane 11, Section 2, Jianguo South Road, Da'an District, Taipei, 5–6 November 12:00–19:00 or 7 November 10:00–19:00. The pickup shop is not the university race venue. Entitlements are category-specific and include a race bib, timing chip, finisher medal, food and either a soft flask or cup, with additional items for the longer races. Allow sufficient travel time to reach the campus before the first 05:00 start.
