Event Detail
GIVE GREEN CBD Bangkok Marathon 2027 is a new city-centre road-running event scheduled for Sunday 31 January 2027, with its start and finish at The Empire on South Sathorn Road in Bangkok. The event builds on CBD WE RUN, a community and charity running initiative held by the Asset World Foundation for Charity and partners since 2014. The 2027 programme expands that history into a full marathon, alongside a half marathon, a 10 km race and a 5 km fun run. It is distinct from Bangkok's long-established Bangkok Marathon, which uses a different venue and date.
Course and race experience
The headline 42.195 km course is planned to travel through Bangkok's central business district, connecting the Sathorn area with the Chao Phraya riverside before returning to The Empire. Organisers say the marathon route will be measured and certified to AIMS and World Athletics standards by international course measurer Kim Vivian. However, the final street-by-street route is still being developed in consultation with Bangkok's Metropolitan Police Bureau and has not yet been released. Runners should therefore wait for the approved course map before making assumptions about turns, elevation, road closures or spectator access.
The event combines competitive road racing with a city festival. Organisers have announced music, entertainment and creative activities along the route and around the finish, with the shorter races intended to welcome families, friends and less experienced runners. A collaboration with Tinder Thailand is also advertised for eligible 10 km and 5 km entrants, including optional social 'intent wristbands' and a seven-day Tinder Gold offer subject to the organisers' terms. The Empire complex also houses the EA Wellness Club, which is part of the event's wider health and recovery theme.
Organisation and practical information
The marathon is presented by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Asset World Corporation, the Asset World Foundation for Charity and Generali. The organisers say event proceeds will help support Bangkok environmental initiatives and charitable programmes focused on health, inclusion and urban quality of life.
As of the September 2026 official announcement, registration opening and closing dates, entry fees, individual flag-off times, age limits, cut-offs, aid stations, race-pack collection arrangements and finisher entitlements have not been published. The calendar's midnight time is a provisional date placeholder, not an announced race start. Check the official CBD WE RUN Facebook updates or The Empire's LINE account (@theempire) for the race guide and registration instructions before travelling or paying for an entry. The start/finish coordinates identify The Empire building approximately, rather than a confirmed start-line gantry.
