Event Detail

Laguna Phuket Marathon returns for its 21st edition on 12-13 June 2027, continuing an event history of more than two decades in one of Thailand's best-known resort destinations. The race is a full AIMS member event and brings together a broad field ranging from junior runners to marathoners, with the programme split across Saturday's sunset races and Sunday's early-morning long-distance events.

Saturday afternoon is centred on the 2K Junior Run, 10K and 5K. The Junior Run stays within the Laguna Phuket area, while the 5K heads through nearby local villages and the 10K extends along the beach road. On Sunday, the marathon starts at 03:00, earlier than previous editions, followed by the half marathon at 04:30. The marathon has a 7 hour 30 minute overall limit and the half marathon a 4 hour limit.

The longer courses leave Laguna Phuket and travel northeast towards Baan Don, then north through the Thalang area towards Nai Yang Beach before returning via Layan Beach. Organiser information describes a course shaped by Phuket's tropical landscape, with sections passing forest, rubber and pineapple plantations, beaches, villages and local cultural landmarks. The combination makes this a destination race with a distinctly different character from a typical city marathon.

Course support includes water and isotonic drink stations approximately every 2 to 2.5 kilometres. Marathon and half-marathon runners are also offered fruit at selected stations, while toilets are positioned along the longer routes. Distance markers are placed every kilometre, baggage storage is available near the start area, and post-race food is provided after finishing. Police and race marshals manage traffic, although runners are advised that some light vehicle traffic may still be encountered on parts of the route.

The race weekend also includes community running activities, a shake-out run and beach plogging session. The event supports the Laguna Phuket Foundation's Children First Fund, linking the international race weekend with local charitable work in Phuket.
