The Nike Maxfly 2 is a specialist track sprint spike built for competitive athletes racing 100 to 400 metres, including hurdle events. It is designed for aggressive forefoot running on a suitable athletics track, not for everyday road training, jogging or trail use.
A full-length carbon-fibre Flyplate provides a stiff platform, while a dual-chamber Air Zoom unit under the forefoot is intended to add responsiveness through acceleration and top-speed running. Nike uses a lightweight Flyweave upper to hold the foot securely. Compared with the original Maxfly, the second generation has a revised support platform, an elevated big-toe side and one fewer central spike, changes intended to improve stability.
Nike lists an approximate weight of 164 g for a men's US 8.5 / women's US 10 and identifies the model as a sprinting shoe. Its main strength is its specialised, responsive race-day construction; the trade-offs are limited versatility, a firm aggressive ride and track-specific traction. Nike says the fit runs small and recommends considering a half size up. Check track rules, spike compatibility and personal fit before buying.
