The SCARPA Golden Gate Kima RT is a specialist trail-running shoe designed for fast movement over rocky, uneven mountain routes. It is aimed at runners who value secure footing, precise control and responsive transitions more than the plush cushioning of a daily road trainer. SCARPA positions the model for demanding technical terrain, including exposed mountain paths.
The reinforced mesh and PU upper adds structure, while the Sock-Fit LW construction is intended to wrap the foot securely. SCARPA's Foot Active Control system combines a carbon-fibre plate with the midsole for responsive support on uneven ground. Its Presa TRN-03 outsole uses SuperGum rubber at the forefoot and Water Lock material at the heel, with grip and braking on challenging surfaces as the design priorities. The relatively close-fitting upper and mountain-specific outsole distinguish it from a general road-to-trail shoe.
The technical fit and plate may be less forgiving for broad feet or casual pavement use. Consider terrain, expected grip, sizing and return conditions before purchasing. The US manufacturer also lists shipping restrictions for some states; these should be checked rather than assumed to apply elsewhere.
Price guide (checked 21 October 2026): US$229 official US original regular price for one pair, before the manufacturer's listed promotional discount.
